2020 One of a Kind Kid Award Submission

Submit your Artwork for the 2020 One of a Kind Kid Award!

Children 6-12 years old are invited to submit two (2) illustrated stories to the 2020 One of a Kind Kid Contest. The first story should tell about what it’s like for you in quarantine, and the second story should be about a time that you envision after the quarantine. More specific directions are included below. One entry per child.

We wrote a story about the Corona Virus to share with you. You can read it here. We do hope you like our story and we can’t wait to read the stories that you write and see the pictures that you draw! Every contestant must draw their own pictures and write their own stories. Tell the grown-ups around you that this is your project and they are not allowed to help you make your pictures.

The OOAKK program began in 2009 to honor kids’ love of art and their ability to be independent thinkers. We wanted to host a OOAKK program this year even though we are quarantined.  The structure will be a bit different.  All participants will receive a thank you message from Faith Ringgold.

To complete your submission, please submit the permission request, photograph your child’s two illustrated stories and submit the photos and permission by Monday, June 15th via upload or email to ringgoldfaith@aol.com

Thank-you for your continued participation and interest in the Anyone Can Fly Foundation, Inc.  We look forward to another year of enriching activities with your help and support.

Sincerely,

   Faith Ringgold, President

Anyone Can Fly Foundation, Inc

Objective:

I will use art to show my life in quarantine and how much better it will be after quarantine.

Directions:

Write and illustrate two stories described below. When you draw your picture do it all by yourself. Don’t use a pencil. Pencils are not allowed! Use your crayons, markers or paints. Fill up the whole paper with your composition and use a lot of color!

Story 2

We all dream about a time when this quarantine will end, and we will be back in the world again. Show yourself having your best day and doing something you love.  Tell a story and make a picture to show what you will do, who you will be with and where you will go after quarantine.

Story 1

We are all in quarantine. There are things that we like and things that we don’t like about being in quarantine. Write a short story about your time in quarantine and make a picture to illustrate your story.
